【6年生】A Celebration of Culture and Language
The Grade 6 students are currently working on Unit 3: Let’s Celebrate. In this unit, we have been exploring the theme of celebrations and cultural events, focusing especially on Diversicus in Brazil.
We studied vocabulary related to festivals and celebrations, including festival, samba, Rio de Janeiro, and terms for games and competitions such as team, score, winner, prize, soccer, volleyball, race, and quiz (like a crossword puzzle). Students learned these words through both a slideshow presentation and interactive activities.
To make the lessons more engaging, the students actively participated in fun games such as the two-legged race, soccer, and volleyball, which we played in the Arena and the open ground. These activities not only reinforced their vocabulary but also gave them opportunities to experience teamwork and competition firsthand.
In addition, we discussed musical instruments and music genres. Students learned words such as violin, guitar, rock music, pop music, stage, musician, and samba. This helped them connect celebrations to the world of music and performance.
Overall, the students have been enthusiastic and engaged, showing creativity and teamwork while building their English vocabulary and cultural knowledge.
