【2年生】Inquiry Through Art

In our Immersion classes, students are exploring inquiry through hands-on art activities inspired by the work of Eric Carle. After watching a short video in which Eric Carle explains how he creates the layered textures found in many of his picture books, students worked in pairs to observe and discuss his artwork. Using question prompts, they talked about how the layers were made, what colors were chosen, and how the textures contributed to the final image.

Students then created their own textured papers using paint rollers and shaped sponges, experimenting with color harmony and the way different colors blend or contrast. By choosing, mixing, and layering colors, they learned how thoughtful color choices can make an artwork feel balanced and beautiful.

Through observation, discussion, and creative exploration, students deepened both their artistic understanding and their English communication skills—an important part of our Immersion learning approach.
