【6年生】A Journey of Gratitude: Celebrating Our Grade 6 Graduates

This term, our Grade 6 students worked hard in English and finished their final year of elementary school with energy and smiles. They studied Units 5, 6, and 7, and used English to think about science, society, and history in fun and meaningful ways.
Unit 5 – “Let It Snow”
In Unit 5, students learned why we have seasons and compared climates in different countries, especially Argentina. They practiced weather expressions and created their own TV weather reports, acting as weather announcers and using their English skills in a practical way.
They learned words such as winter, summer, spring, fall, fog/foggy, storm, warm, skiing, sled, and snowboarding. These words helped them describe different types of weather and seasonal activities.
Unit 6 – “Working Together”
In Unit 6, the focus was on inventions, robotics, and working as a team. Students learned about inventions from South Korea and then designed their own “robot-like” machines to help with different jobs in the community.
They studied vocabulary such as businesswoman/businessman, engineer, firefighter, manager, mechanic, pilot, police officer, factory, fire engine, fire station, meeting, and newspaper. Through this, they thought about future careers and how people work together in society.
Unit 7 – “Then and Now”
In Unit 7, students explored how everyday objects have changed over time and learned about the pyramids of Egypt. They compared life “then” and “now,” and talked about how technology and daily items have evolved.
They learned words such as brush, comb, fridge, gate key, oven, shampoo, shelf, soap, and telephone. Using these words, they practiced talking about old and modern versions of familiar objects.
Grammar Focus
Throughout Units 5–7, students strengthened their grammar to communicate more clearly. They practiced:
- Using will and won’t to talk about the future.
- Using conjunctions so and because to explain reasons and results.
- Using tag questions and short questions to check information and keep conversations going.
- Using common past participles such as seen, found, driven, ridden, and broken to talk about experiences.
These grammar points helped students express their ideas more naturally in speaking and writing.
School Well-Being and Graduation
Our school well-being committee reminded everyone to “wrap up the year with thanks and smiles” and to “make it a week of smiles with gratitude.” Grade 6 students showed kindness to classmates, younger students, and teachers as they finished their last term.
They also successfully prepared for graduation day and completed all of their Grade 6 tasks for this school year. We celebrated graduation day peacefully and joyfully, proud of our students’ growth in English and in character.
Thank you to all students, families, and teachers for your warm support throughout the year. We look forward to seeing our graduates continue to learn, grow, and shine in junior high school and beyond.
